His Syr Anton Cwith (kwith) is a Welshman from a small village known as Raghelan in the bounds of Monmouthshire. Born in 1215, the year that the Magna Carta was signed, Anton's father instilled in him a belief that he could indeed rise from the meager beginnings and enter the ranks of nobility. Anton became known as Cwith - the lefthanded - when he first engaged in swordplay as a young boy and naturally wielded his sword with the left hand. Finding an advantage in his left-handedness, he excelled quickly. The nick-name, Cwith, stuck, though he should be formally known as Anton of Raghelan. He made his way fighting on the side of the Marcher Lords against Welsh raiders. Anton earned his way through skill at arms in service to the great Bloet family, one of the families to come to England with William the Conqueror in 1066. He was given a meager estate on the outskirts on Raghelan, where he maintains residence and provides an ever vigilant guard on the Marches with his teulu. Anton is educated in both Christian doctrine and Welsh druidic lore. Dislikes: Raisins...why use a juicy succulent fruit after is has become dried up and shriveled? Make wine with the grapes if you aren't going to eat them fresh! Whims: His Majesty enjoys seeing warriors strive in combat to gain some prize through marshal prowess. He would ask that there be many tournaments that He might enjoy, and that the warriors of Calontir might hone their skill at arms! His Majesty enjoys the music of Calontir immensely, both the songs of the bards and the drums of the Middle Eastern community. It is His wish to see a combined effort that bards and drums can coexist and revel together, each adding their contribution to the evening's entertainment. Hers Dislikes: Cooked green peppers… which aren't period anyway so it shouldn't really be an issue. Whims: Her Majesty is very fond of dancing, both European and Middle Eastern and would like to be invited to balls and haflas. Her Majesty is also a brewer/vintner so please expect honest criticism when She tries the beverages you have made, and know that She might make off with the rest of the bottle if it is particularly scrumptious. Award recommendations: There are many members out there who are deserving of awards, some of them have been deserving of these awards for so long that it is assumed they have them. Please look around you during the coming months and think about those people that have been playing for 8 years and have not yet received an AoA. Or the person who has been doing amazing work in the sciences, and has a Calon Lily for another activity, but has been passed over for their Leather Mallet. Do not be afraid to tell of your friend's talent. While it falls on each of us to make recommendations, there is a stated responsibility for group officers in the Seneschal's Handbook: "Your input to the Crown" "As an officer of your group, you have a duty to submit award recommendations to the Crown. When there are people in your group doing things for which you believe they deserve recognition, you should send an award recommendation to Their Majesties. They cannot know all Their subjects, and They really want to hear from you. If you don't do it, who will?" pg7 |
